詞源

可能借自意第緒語 שנויץ (shnoyts)，其源自德語 Schnauze (「鼻子」)。對比schnozzle。另一較少見理論認為其是一個受到schm-的影響或者和意第緒語單詞聯想而得到的nose的變體。至少1940年起已可考。
