源自praesciēns (“预知的,预测的”),拉丁语 praesciō (“预知”)的现在分词,源自prae- (“...之前”之意的前缀)(最终源自原始印欧语 *preh₂- (“在...之前”))+ sciō (“知道”)(最终源自原始印欧语 *skey- (“解剖,分割”))。与中古法语 prescient(现代形式法语 prescient (“有先见之明的”))、意大利语 presciente (“有先见之明的”)同源。[1]
